l am 29 years old. This year l was diagnosed with a 3cm pineal germinoma. l believe that my symptoms started six years prior when l started to develop psychotic symptoms and heinous seasonal effect disorder and cfs . l could not tolerate any psychotropic meds and have almost been killed by my violent reactions to antipsychotic meds. l am frustrated because western doctors that attended to my treatment suggest that the pineal gland does not do anything and is not considered an important endocrine gland. They recognize its importance in melatonin secretion but believe it does very little otherwise. Metaphysical data is extremely at odds with western medicine and really illuminates my experiences of having a pineal growth. l suffer from uncontrollable thoughts, pressure in my mid face (pineal eye region), intracranial pressure, hallucinations- hallucinations consisting of strong and invasive mental imagery, malaise, fatigue, etc... Any thoughts on this?

Are pineal germinomas canerous?Is it possible to developed psychotic symtoms do to an untreated pineal growth??

Germinoma of the pineal gland is a rare disease usually confined to the brain which responds well to radiotherapy. Spinal seeding occurs in 4% of cases & distant metastases r extremely rare.
mental & pituitary hormonal dysfunctions r major drawbacks of radiotherapy. Radiotherapy treatment is not sufficient for patients with spinal seeding, extracranial disease or disease relapse who will also require chemotherapy.
Successful, but less toxic, treatments with chemotherapeutic regimens, such as high-dose methotrexate, is now a new attractive therapeutic option with the potential of reducing radiotherapy use.
Overall 5-year survival rate for patients with a pineal region or suprasellar germinoma treated with radiation is 59%.
The 5-year survival rate for patients aged 25 years or younger who do not undergo biopsy for a tumor in the pineal region is 81% after radiation treatment. Most of these tumors r probably germinomas.
Please consult ur physician regarding the current treatment & side effects as well as the symptoms of this tumor. There r a few references below showing the relationship between pineal germinoma & psychosis.
